Dye's latest
Fred Seely's column
A spectacular new Pete Dye course is the centerpiece of a spectacular new development in Curacao, the tiny island that's all the way down the Caribbean chain.

The course rambles through a $700 million venture named Santa Barbara Plantation. It includes a 370-room Hyatt Regency and every imaginable amenity.

The resort, in fact, is so good that you have to make sure you fit in time to play the golf course. But you will, and you'll find something different than you anticipate.

No tricks here, like Dye's famed Teeth of the Dog in the Dominican Republic. It's very straightforward and takes advantage of the land that slopes down off a large mountain to the sea.

Curacao isn't a golf destination by any means. It's a cruise ship destination and there's only one other golf course on the island, a somewhat beat-up muny.
